Who or what got you into shooting?

Self-defense and protection for my family and myself.

Do you shoot handguns, shotguns, rifles or all of the above?

20 gauge pump shotgun and a Saiga 12 fully automatic shotgun.

NRA member since:

September 2013 and ready to learn!!!

Why are you involved with the NRA or how do you support their efforts?

To show support to the NRA for fighting for our 2nd amendments rights! And to learn.

Tell us about the first gun you owned or your favorite gun.

A requested Christmas present from my husband - my 20-gauge pump.

What's your current go-to gun?

For protection or defense - my Saiga 12 fully automatic shotgun with a 10 shot clip.

What's your favorite shooting range or place to hunt?

Our backyard. We live in the county and have plenty of land.

Do you have a favorite accessory or clothing item you won't go shooting or hunting without? What makes it so important?

My pink ear protectors. I am woman, hear me shoot!

What's your most unusual gun-related item?

None at this time. I'm a newbie - give me time!

What's your best or most memorable moment as it relates to firearms?

Shooting the Saiga 12 fully automatic shotgun at the gun range in a gun shop in Tennessee. All the staff where laughing at how exited I was about the guns performance.

I own a gun because:

I want to protect my home and loved ones... As well as myself. Woman must not cower in the corner but be part of the team that defends the home and family!

Tell us the best (or worst) gun advice you've ever been given.

"Oh, just shoot it"... Before I was familiar with the weapon. Which you should never do. Know the gun first.

What's your easiest gun to handle and shoot? Hardest?

So far, for me the 20-gauge pump shotgun

What would be your recommendation for best entry-level gun?:

Pistol. Shotguns can be hard to handle at first. Oh, the "kick"! Sorry, but I love it.

Your ideal shopping trip: the mall or an outdoor outfitter?

An outdoor outfitter. I prefer their women's apparel hands down. The mall if I need a nice dress or shoes, otherwise I am not much of a "maller".

What do you think is the best home defense ‹ firing or fleeing?

If you can get out of harms way - that's is always the best move. If not, call 911 and prepare to stand your ground and defend yourself.

Who or what inspires you?

My mother. She is 72 and still runs a successful real estate and beach resort rental business. I wish I were half the woman she is. And my sister.

What's your favorite holiday? Why?

Christmas! Because the family comes together and we all go to church together on Christmas Eve. I love decorating with all the crafts I make! My grandmother loved the holiday and passed it along to me.

What do you do to relax and unwind ‹ watch TV, listen to music, go to movies, catch a game, exercise, something else?

Craft, make and sell jewelry, decorative bows and wreaths; read; draw; spend time with my husband and our dogs. Socialize with family over dinners. Take nature walks in the woods and on the beach. We live 6 miles from Holden Beach.

Your greatest accomplishment?

My career as Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Hospice Registered Nurse. I have been given the gift to touch so many lives and each life has changed me for the better. Made me a more humble and empathic person.
