OWNER, TARGET MASTER SHOOTING ACADEMY, LCC, PRESIDENT OF THE KANSAS STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION, NRA CERTIFIED TRAINING COUNSELOR

Bonner Springs, KS

Who or what got you into shooting?

My dad took me to shoot for the first time at age eight and I've been hooked ever since! Now I'm 57 and I can never get enough!

First or favorite gun?

My favorite gun is my Colt 1911 Gold Cup Trophy gun. I have a pair of them just in case!

What is your favorite gun accessory? Why?

Trijicon Night Sights for low light shooting with my handguns

Favorite place to shoot or hunt?

My favorite place to shoot is at my local gun club, Tri-County Rod and Gun Club, or anywhere shooting with my husband.

Favorite shooting/hunting partner?

My husband Bob

Best shooting/hunting memory?

It's hard to boil it down to one memory, but my favorite experiences were tactical handgun training with John Farnam and Ken Hackathorn.

I own a gun because:

I believe in taking responsibility for my own personal safety and I enjoy plinking as a hobby. I also feel passionately about the Second Amendment so I'd have to say, just because I can!

How do you feel about pink guns?

Pink is not for me. I prefer my gun to look big and bad!

Do you go to the range to amp up or chill out?

Both, any reason to go to the range is a good reason

Best gun tip?

Relax and focus on the front sight while gently pressing the trigger

Your choice of gun for protection?

Glock pistol and Remington 870 pump shotgun

Guns or shoes?

Guns of course

Who or what inspires you?

As a young person my dad and my uncle inspired me. Later in life my husband became a great inspiration to me as he encouraged me to get my instructors certification and share my knowledge with others. My students inspire me to be the best instructor I can be. It's very gratifying to introduce new people to the world of shooting and firearms and I love how women particularly leave the range after training feeling empowered and excited to come back.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

My Colt 1911 and my wonderful husband!

Book you’re reading?

The Heller Case: Gun Rights Affirmed by Alan Korwin and David B. Kopel

Favorite TV Show?

Criminal Minds and history documentaries

Favorite vacation spot?

Gatlinburg, Tennessee / Smoky Mountains

Your greatest accomplishment?

It's hard to narrow it down to just one thing. Becoming the owner of a shooting academy (Target Master Shooting Academy, LLC), becoming the first female president of the Kansas State Rifle Association, and being honored by the NRA with the Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award
