Who or what got you into shooting?
I started shooting a couple years ago because I was looking for a way to connect with my dad & brothers. I have always been a girlie-girl with a wannabe tomboy streak. Learning about firearms was the perfect way to fulfill my latent desire to be tough and build self-confidence at the same time.

Why are you involved with the NRA or how do you support their efforts?
After my experience at the NRA Annual Meeting in 2012, I became a devoted NRA member & promoter. I realized just how lucky we are to have this organization defending our freedom. Some amazingly kind, thoughtful and determined individuals work at the NRA and I am proud to call them friends.

Tell us about the first gun you owned or your favorite gun
My favorite gun, a Browning Lightning 20 gauge shotgun, was a gift from my dad. He purchased it from his commanding officer in the Army before I was born and it is in mint condition. It is a treasure I will never part with.

What's your current go-to gun?
My Ruger LCP is my daily concealed carry gun. I love it because of its size and because I painted the logo pink to personalize it a bit.

What's your favorite shooting range or place to hunt?
My favorite shooting range is Oaktree Gun Club just outside Los Angeles. It’s the best range I have ever been to. They do an excellent job with customer service and safety. Two women operate it and they do an amazing job of making ladies feel at ease. I am fortunate to call it my home range.

Do you have a favorite accessory or clothing item you won't go shooting or hunting without? What makes it so important?
I love love love the Flashbang Bra Holster. It is a staple. The creators of the Flashbang have done an amazing job catering to the needs of women. They have a fantastic product line and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

What's your most unusual gun-related item?:
My nail polish! I love matching my nails with something I own that is firearm-related. For the NRA show in 2012 I painted them midnight blue because it reminded me of the bluing finish on my Browning 20 gauge.

What's your best or most memorable moment as it relates to firearms?:
I have so many wonderful memories with guns that it’s hard to choose just one. I will answer that one by saying that watching my friends who are newbies to the world of firearms - seeing the way they light up when they shoot for the first time - that is the best feeling for me.

I own a gun because:
Shooting is fun! Also because I can defend myself if necessary, but the primary reason I shoot is because I genuinely enjoy it and because owning a gun has brought me an enormous sense of confidence and self-worth.

Tell us the best (or worst) gun advice you've ever been given.
Worst: Sure, go ahead and fire that Desert Eagle. Don’t worry that you have no experience. It won’t hurt ya.

What's your easiest gun to handle and shoot? Hardest?:
Easiest: that wonderful Browning shotgun. Hardest: my concealed carry gun. It is tiny, so it is not very comfortable to shoot, but I love the fact that it is so lightweight and comfortable to carry.

What would be your recommendation for best entry-level gun?
I love a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm, but I always recommend that beginners start with a .22 pistol and work their way up to larger calibers (like the 9mm) from there.

Your ideal shopping trip: the mall or an outdoor outfitter?
Depends on the day. If they could put a Sephora in a Bass Pro Shop, I would be in heaven.

What do you think is the best home defense — firing or fleeing?
The best defense at home is a plan, and then training. And then more training. The more prepared you are, the better. Firing your gun in a home defense situation is a big deal. It is vital that all the circumstances and consequences are well thought through.

Who or what inspires you?
Oh wow- this is a tough one because there are so many people who inspire me. The most inspiring people I interact with frequently are members of the US military because of all they do to protect and ensure freedom for us and so many abroad.

What's your favorite holiday? Why?
July 4th all the way! I love Independence Day because we have a chance to celebrate and reflect upon our freedom. Plus, fireworks are my all time fave.

What do you do to relax and unwind — watch TV, listen to music, go to movies, catch a game, exercise, something else?
Downtime seems nonexistent these days, but there are a few things I do to relax. I love hitting the beach near my home for a good long walk or a little paddle surfing. Also, my newest TV addiction is Duck Dynasty. Best. Show. Ever.

Your greatest accomplishment?
Hasn’t happened yet. ;)
