Who or what got you into shooting?

My boyfriend's (now husband) mother got a Colt Python for her birthday and we all went out to shoot it. I was 16 and it was the first gun I ever handled or fired. (I'm thankful that I learned from a responsible family who took the time to teach me gun safety before letting me shoot.) I was hooked!

Do you shoot handguns, shotguns, rifles or all of the above?

All of the above

Why are you involved with the NRA or how do you support their efforts?

I believe in the Second Amendment and feel the NRA is our best tool to speak as one voice against those who would disarm us.

Tell us about the first gun you owned or your favorite gun.

The very first gun that I personally owned was my concealed carry gun, a Springfield V10 45 ACP.

What's your current go-to gun?

See above :)

What's your favorite shooting range or place to hunt?

We moved out west just 5 years ago and have had to learn the stalk. Even though there is something to be said for a good tree stand, I have fallen in love with spot and stalk hunting.

Do you have a favorite accessory or clothing item you won't go shooting or hunting without? What makes it so important?

I think my favorite item is my Eberlestock backpack. It is so versatile, I can take it down to the bare bones and use it for a day hike or I can load it up for a 6-7 day hike in hunt.

What's your most unusual gun-related item?

Unusual...I don't know if I have something that falls in this category.

What's your best or most memorable moment as it relates to firearms?

Besides my very first shooting experience (see first question above), I would have to say one of my most memorable moments was when my husband surprised me with my very own Browning BPS 16 gauge. It is such a beautiful gun and I love it.

I own a gun because:

I believe in being able to protect myself, I enjoy shooting, and I love to hunt.

Tell us the best (or worst) gun advice you've ever been given.

My husband and I were recently given the opportunity to get instruction from a retired gentleman who use to teach at Gunsite. I walked away from that short weekend feeling more confident and empowered! I have always shot to the left of my intended target, he showed me that it wasn't trigger pull but that my natural alignment is slightly left.

What's your easiest gun to handle and shoot? Hardest?

I'm best with handguns (I prefer 1911s), it took me quite some time to get used to shooting long guns...but I'm improving. :)

What would be your recommendation for best entry-level gun?

I think that is up to the individual. I am a larger lady with long hands, I'm much more comfortable with larger calibers and have been from the start. Many ladies will me more comfortable with a smaller gun.

Your ideal shopping trip: the mall or an outdoor outfitter?

Outdoor outfitter, hands down.

What do you think is the best home defense — firing or fleeing?

Firing.

Who or what inspires you?

My husband, for more reasons than I can put into words. He is my hero and the reason I constantly strive to be a better person.

What's your favorite holiday? Why?

Thanksgiving; I enjoy spending time with family prior to all the hustle and bustle of Christmas. The world has ruined Christmas by forgetting the reason for the season.

What do you do to relax and unwind — watch TV, listen to music, go to movies, catch a game, exercise, something else?

All of the above. :)

Your greatest accomplishment?

My marriage. After 26 years we are still each other's best friend and love to do everything together.
