Who or what got you into shooting?

My husband has been a firearms fan for years. He helped me purchase my first revolver a couple of years ago, and later a Sig. I was unsure at first, not being very familiar with firearms, but he's a terrific instructor and now it's an activity that we enjoy doing together. He also helped me get a job at a local gun shop, where I now work fulltime coordinating Marketing & events for the shop. He was also instrumental in my getting a job at a local gun shop, which then led to a position with the NRA.

Do you shoot handguns, shotguns, rifles or all of the above?

All of the above. My favorite would be my revolver and Sig, but I've shot them all.

NRA member since:

My husband in 2012, and I joined in 2013. With all of the challenges facing the Second Amendment we knew it was important to become involved.

Why are you involved with the NRA or how do you support their efforts?

I have volunteered with the Friends of NRA Banquet in Loudoun County. I am also working in the Shows & Exhibits division of the NRA, helping coordinate events such as the Great American Outdoor Show and the Annual Meeting.

Tell us about the first gun you owned or your favorite gun.

The 38 special revolver was my first gun purchase. I wanted a revolver because it wasn't 'complicated' -- easy to load, I didn't have to think about it. I still enjoy shooting it, even though I've moved on to handling other types of firearms.

What's your favorite shooting range or place to hunt?

We love to go out to Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, WV. It's a beautiful out-door range and I've attended many shooting competitions there to film & photograph gun competitions for the shop.

Do you have a favorite accessory or clothing item you won't go shooting or hunting without? What makes it so important?

I love the "Concealed Carrie" purse. I am also creating an ammunition jewelry line with my in-laws called “Studio Ammo Works”. I wear our hand-crafted ammo earrings almost every day.

What's your best or most memorable moment as it relates to firearms?

Watching my husband compete in his first 3 Gun competition. I was so proud of him!

I own a gun because:

There is evil in the world and you just don't know where or when it might have an impact on your life. I also believe it is a right we have through the 2nd Amendment, and has helped make this country great.

What would be your recommendation for best entry-level gun?

Something that feels comfortable to you and that you know you will be confident in handling, even under stressful situations.

Your ideal shopping trip: the mall or an outdoor outfitter?

A little bit of both.

What do you think is the best home defense — firing or fleeing?

You can only flee so far. Get 9-1-1 on the phone, let the intruder know you have a firearm and you know how to use it.

What's your favorite holiday? Why?

I love all holidays, but especially Thanksgiving & Christmas. It is great to have family gathering around a delicious meal and taking the time to remember all the blessings we have. I also love to take the time to create unique gifts and share them with family and friends at Christmas time.

What do you do to relax and unwind — watch TV, listen to music, go to movies, catch a game, exercise, something else?

I am a big football fan so I love watching or going to games during the fall. I enjoy running or biking, or taking the dog out for a hike in the country. I enjoy playing the piano.

Your greatest accomplishment?

Being nominated for Young Professional of the Year in Loudoun County in 2013. Also starting the “Studio Ammo Works” business with my family.
