Wild at Heart • The Melanie Pepper Story

Armed & Fabulous

Melanie Pepper has been honored with the prestigious Safari Club International Diana Award, hunted everywhere from Alaska to Zambia, and worked tirelessly to pass the hunting tradition on to future generations both through conservation and youth education classes. But she never picked up a gun until she was 40 years old.

Once she got started, however, it was clear that the sport was in Melanie's blood. She grew up in San Antonio with a father and brother who hunted, but it was her husband John who took her hunting for the first time.

Now Melanie is a "Mimi" who hunts with her grandchildren and works hard to bring families into the sport. She is on the executive committee of the NRA Women's Leadership Forum and Co-Chairs the annual WLF Luncheon.

Melanie Pepper never held a gun until she was 40 years old, but now as a "Mimi," she's one of the most accomplished hunters in the world.
