An Eye for Adventure • The Barbara Rumpel Story

Armed & Fabulous

Whether it was moving to New York alone as a young woman or partaking in a helicopter hog hunt in later years, NRA Women's Leadership Forum Executive Committee member Barbara Rumpel has made her way through life being "game for anything."

That attitude is what led her to follow an advertisement for the 2010 Women's Wilderness Escape to Raton, New Mexico. Over the course of nine days with 90 women on the more than 33,000 acres of the NRA Whittington Center, Barbara fell in love with the shooting sports—and the location.

The next year she brought her husband, John, along for the ride, and today they both generously support the facility as Charter Patriot members. She also continues her firearms education with the same daring spirit she has always applied—whether it’s learning to shoot left handed or taking on one of the five or six new courses she signs on for each year.

Barbara Rumpel's adventurous spirit led her to her husband, her love of shooting sports and her commitment to defending the Second Amendment.
